Delete your account. On your terms, whenever you decide.
CoCounselor is an AI legal assistant that helps you research the law, understand your rights, and draft documents grounded in real statutes. Because the questions you ask and the documents you upload are personal, you stay in full control of that data — and you can close your account and erase it at any time. This page explains exactly how, what is removed, and how long it takes.
1. Two ways to delete your account
Choose whichever is easier for you. Both routes result in the same complete removal of your account and data.
From inside the app
Open CoCounselor, go to your account settings, and choose to delete your account. You will be asked to confirm, after which your account is closed and you are signed out. This is the fastest option if you still have the app installed.
By email — no app required
If you have already removed the app, or would prefer we handle it for you, send a deletion request from the email address on your account so we can confirm it is really you:
Subject: Delete my CoCounselor account
Please include: the email address associated with your CoCounselor account
We verify that every request comes from the account owner before anything is deleted, and we will confirm by email once it is done.
2. What we remove
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal data tied to it, including:
Your profile
Name, email address, and the sign-in identity connected to your CoCounselor account.
Your conversations
Every legal question you have asked and the cited guidance CoCounselor returned.
Your documents & drafts
Contracts, leases, and notices you uploaded, plus any documents drafted in your workspace.
Your preferences
Selected jurisdiction, credit balance, theme, and notification settings.
3. What we may keep, and why
We remove or anonymize your account and workspace content within 30 days of your request. In a few cases we are legally required to retain a limited amount of information for a defined period — for example, transaction and billing records needed to meet tax, accounting, or security obligations. We keep only what the law requires, use it for nothing else, and delete it once those obligations end.
4. Questions before you go
If you have any questions about deleting your account or the data we hold, our team is happy to help:
